Vintage Science Fiction Promo Posters

Grade 11/12

“As a group, we are stronger than we are as individuals.”
-George Lucas

If you’re a fan of all things rockets, robots and ray guns, this one is for you! In this instalment, students kicked it into hyperdrive, researching the aesthetic principles of the 1950’s and 60’s Science Fiction Movie Poster genre, before creating their own homage graphic designs for courses, events, school/community programs, bands,  fan art, PSA’s, etc using Adobe Illustrator. Where will the Comm Tech Time Machine show up next? Join our class! Have your say! Let’s keep exploring!

At the end of this activity students demonstrated a deeper understanding of:

– rendering concepts from sketch to final digital vector formats
– colour theory, mixing colours, gradients, blends, mesh tool and managing colour palette
– review and intermediate studies manipulating vectored lines with pen tool in Illustrator
– hierarchy in creative typographical design
– publishing multiple drafts to print and web using the Adobe Creative Suite
