Monster Mashup using Illustrator

In this “Comm Tech Creature Feature”, students channelled their inner ghoul, researching the aesthetic principles of retro horror films and B movie posters before executing their own homage graphic designs for courses, events, school/community programs, bands, fan art, PSA’s, etc using Adobe Illustrator.

At the end of this activity students demonstrated a deeper understanding of:

– digitally rendering compositions from sketchbook
– colour theory, mixing colours, gradients, blends, mesh tool and managing colour palette
– review and intermediate studies manipulating vectored lines with pen tool in Illustrator
-hierarchy in creative typographical design
– publishing multiple drafts to print and web using the Adobe Creative Suite
